Core Features:
Tons of new biomes for Mechwarrior 5
The core of vonBiomes is its multitude of new environments it brings to Mechwarrior 5. All planets in the galaxy (aka the Inner Sphere) are saturated with new biomes, from barren wastelands to deep deserts, from war-torn industrial and urban areas to lush tropical and temperate forest and even more alien worlds with xeno lifeforms and strange fungi. vonBiomes brings life to your Mechwarrior 5 sandbox!
High-quality lighting & visuals
vonBiomes integrates a full lighting suite. It improves the look and visual quality of Mechwarrior 5, and adds a lot of new lighting features and dynamic variables to the environment lighting, with the result that every mission looks different and unique. The lighting and visuals suite has many Mod Options (Mod Options Mod required), in which you can enable or disable advanced rendering features like Global Illumination (GI) or Volumetric Fog.
Improved Weather Effects
Weather like rain or snow are improved both in visual quality as well as in density. Rain is now refractive and looks natural, Sand Storms are not “sandy” and even lightning storms emit light and illuminate the environment.
Dynamic lighting with Sun Classes, Planet Orbits and more
With vonBiomes, no mission looks the same. The mod package integrates the different astronomical sun classes from Blue Giants to Red Dwarfs, and calculates lighting brightness based on orbital distance of the planet, the mission takes place. There are additional randomizers in place to further make the look & feel of a planet or mission unique. Take a look at the vonBiomes mission screen, there you can find the information for sun class and planet orbit right on the biome image.
Tons of new sky objects and space nebulas
The skies never look the same with vonBiomes. On top of the basic 5 moons/planets, hovering in the skies, vonBiomes brings over 100 new sky bodies to your Mechwarrior missions. These sky bodies vary in all aspects, from sizes to colors, from ringed planets to asteroids.
New Locations and custom tiles
vonBiomes adds new locations for the map generation, that can appear in your missions. These new map tiles range from lakes and rivers to war-torn relicts, from volcanos to deep pits, from crash-landed drop-ships to solar energy farms and more.
New Mission Backgrounds
With vonBiomes, you can now find cities or industrial sites in the background, or on moon biomes large structures, factories or more. vonBiomes transports the MW5 missions back to areas, where there actually is civilization and human activity present.
Design overhaul of the Mission Screen
The mission screen got a design overhaul to bring back the biome image header on top, and also restructured the mission information to fit monitors better. Secondly, new information can be found on the mission screen, like sun classes and planet orbits. In the background, the planet on which the mission will take place is put in the spotlight, and you can see it rotating in close-up behind the User Interface (UI) elements.
Lore Integration
On the Mission Screen, you can find a button called "Lore Information" on top. This opens up a panel about the solar system you are currently in with BattleTech lore. Read about the stories and history of the system, you are fighting your battles in, and learn more about BattleTech's deep and rich lore on the fly. The integration made possible thanks to the amazing sarna.net, the ultimate BattleTech lore wiki.
