After the latest biomes updates, here is a new vonHUD with several add-ons and improvements, ranging from parallax effects when you move the Mech's torso to the Clan Mech HUD background upgrade, performance optimizations, fixes, and more.
Mod Download for vonHUD 13:
or on Steam / Nexus.
What's new:
New effect: Full Parallax HUD
The static HUD sticking on screen bugged me - so I have created a parallax version of the Mechwarrior 5 HUD that moves dynamically with your torso rotation.
You have Mod Options for that ready for toggle (on/off) and the strength of the parallax movement. Standard is Parallax HUD is activated, the strength is 1.0, but you can set it higher if you prefer more movement.
Paperdolls: undamaged Internals Color
You can now set the internal structure on the paper dolls for Mechs to a less blue and saturated level, or even totally transparent until damaged! There is a new Mod Option available in the Colors section; my recommendation is to use a white color with ~ 50% opacity level (standard value).
One quick note: the opacity (transparency) setting of any vonHUD color in the Mod Options is the vertical bar on the right. I have now also updated the standard values for the HUD panels to be more transparent. Before, the standards set had been too opaque - please be sure to adjust the opacity downwards of "Glow" > e.g. 50% and also "Border" somewhat if you like a more glass-like HUD!
Clan Mech HUD Style Upgrade
In the previous version of vonHUD, the crosshairs were already different when piloting Clan Mechs. Now the rest of the HUD panels also follow, and I have designed and handcrafted a complete new set of background elements for Clan Mechs. The style is more sleek and curved than the more angled Inner Sphere version to represent the higher technology level.
Performance Optimization for Backview Cam & Target Cam
Morte optimization has gone into the Target Cam at the enemy paper doll panel and the Backview Cam in the Multi-Function Display (MFD). The MFD's Backview Cam is still off by default, since it takes still performance in Unreal Engine to render extra views, but you can try to enable it to give it a go, and see if your GPU can handle the extra load.
Mech switching fixes
When doing Mech switching, the HUD did behave a little strangely, not remembering positions, and it led to tearing borders sometimes. Now that should be fixed.
vonCommander: Drop-Ins Object fixes
It was still the case that vonCommander Drop-In Bases (the Assault Base, Field Base, and Scanner Base) had still left-overs after a mission. This should also now be better handled. I have completely replaced the objects in question (the barriers/gabions) from the bases and added another layer of removing sub-objects of drop in bases after a mission ends. I hope this makes it more stable now and there are no floating leftovers anymore.
PS: vonCommander is accessible with the PageUp key on your keyboard, if you have not yet experienced that added layer of tactical control;)
Full Restructuring and Reorganization of Mod Options
The Mod Options of vonHUD did grow over time - now they are completely reordered and restructured for better overview and detail settings and fine-tuning got their own sections.
Thank you very much to all Patreons on https://www.patreon.com/vonSeiten for all the continuous support of the modding and the work, and I hope you like the new update! I am especially happy about the parallax effect, and that that idea worked out for Mechwarrior 5 Mercs.
I will also drop this version on the public channel since the fixes are important. There is a new DLC coming soon for Mechwarrior 5: CHAOS REIGN - this will likely again need an update run for the Mods, and I hope that the impact will not be as dramatic as last time. On release day and as soon as the updated editor is available, I will start immediately with testing and updating to get it all together as soon as possible for you. Let's keep our fingers crossed! :)
Cheers, and enjoy the new vonHUD!
